C'River State Commissioner for Women Affairs Hon Stella Odey carries out Empowerment of 80 Women in collaboration with ITF.

Hon. Stella Odey: The Commissioner for Women Affairs, Commends Sen. Prof Ben Ayade for Graciously Financing the Project.


It was indeed a celebration of success as 80 graduates of the  Cross River State Ministry of Women Affairs/ITF Training/Empowerment Scheme danced in their colours to showcase their brilliance in handmade beads, shoes, bags, wrappers and other fashion designs.
The event which had in attendance the wife of the Governor of Cross River State Dr. Linda Ayade, The wife of the Governor Dr. Mrs. Linda Ayade; the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon. Stella Odey; a former Federal House Representatives Member and one time Ambassador to Ethiopia, Amb. Nkoyo Toyo; the Commissioner for Information and Orientation Mrs. Rosemary Archibong, the Commissioner for Health Dr. Inyang Asibong; the House of Assembly member representing Yala 1 State Constituency, Hon. Regina Anyogo; the Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Comr. Asu Okang and other influential women in Cross River State.


In her welcome address the Commissioner for women affairs, Hon. Stella Odey welcomed guest to the event and reiterated the commitment of the Gov. Ben Ayade led administration to create jobs through women trainings and empowerments. She also advised the graduates to see the opportunity as a stepping stone and to put the skills they have learnt into good practice.

In her address, the Wife of the Governor of Cross River State, Dr. Mrs Linda Ayade appreciated the good works of the trained graduates, she reminded them that for Cross River State to grow beyond the retrospect of a civil service state, they must be a collaborative effort between Government and local  entrepreneurs to ensure businesses in the state thrive and women have a critical role to play.   Dr. Linda Ayade also pledged her continuous support for the project and a spread to other senatorial districts.

Guest who spoke at the event lauded the State Ministry of Women Affairs for the life changing programme. Speaking at the event, Amb. Nkoyo Toyo urged participants to practice and also develop on their skills. Hon. Regina Anyogo in her short remark applauded the state governor Sen. Ben Ayade for holding the interest of women in the state close to his heart, as huge budgetary provision was made for women empowerment in the 2018 budget.

The Empowerment which provided the women with starter packs  for their various businesses also witnessed exhibition displays by graduates of the training scheme.
